About Me
Hannah Mess
I first fell in love with horses at the age of six, when I was able to horseback ride as part of a summer camp. After subsequently begging my parents for riding lessons, I was able to start riding at a local barn, where I ended riding at for the next ten years. The girls I grew up riding with became my family, and I spent countless hours at the barn trying to learn as much as I could.
I also became involved in 4-H, an agriculture based community organization that focuses on youth development and leadership. Through 4-H, I was able to develop a strong work ethic, as well as represent my club at States three years in a row.
Today, I currently compete with the University of Ottawa Equestrian Team. Though many don't actually know that we exist, we are the number 1 team in Canada, a title we look forward to defending in our upcoming season. We compete on two circuits- the OCEA here in Canada, and the IHSA, which is based in the United States. Additionally, I was also recently voted in as Captain of the IHSA Team, and regardless of how our season pans out, I am looking forward to making new memories and reaching new goals with my team.
When I am not riding in Ottawa, I can be found working summers and school holidays at my home barn in New Jersey.
