Hi! My name is Hannah, and I have been obsessed with horses and equestrian sports for over a decade. My studies at uOttawa in Marketing have further pushed me to examine the sport, but from a business perspective. Here, you can read up on my history with horses, as well as how I feel equines and business can meld together to help equestrian sports have a greater impact on mainstream media.

Equestrian Sports and the Media

When most people think of equestrian sports, they don't conjure up the image of olympians making hairpin turns while jumping 6-foot fences; rather, think of horse racing, or that one time they rode a horse at a carnival.

While horseback riding at the professional level can be exhilarating to watch, many non-equestrian viewers do not understand the talent and sheer strength it takes to make it look like "you're just sitting there". On my blog, I attempt to tackle the issue of the discord between horses sports and how they are portrayed in the media, as well as how the nature of equestrian sports needs to change so that the sport can be more accessible to a larger amount of people.
